my portfolio

Some of my favorite pieces i’ve done over my past year at Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan. Freshman Studios Visualization, 2D, 3D, 4D. Also a collection of my personal works I’ve done.

For my Studio 3D final project, I created a Mad Hatter costume using paper to reflect his time obsession with clock numbers 1-12. I combined elements from different Mad Hatter interpretations, such as orange/redish hair from the live-action movie and a green bowtie and blue collared shirt from the Disney animated version.

During the project, I learned to measure and cut tailored clothing for the first time and successfully handled challenges like folding paper without tearing and using spray paint without damaging it. I reinforced the inner structure with hot glue, tacky glue, or staples due to frequent breaks.

This project taught me essential skills in garment tailoring and working with non-flexible materials, valuable for my future as a fashion/apparel designer.

In my 3D Studio course, we were tasked to create a sculpture using strictly pulp board, a paper-like material that can bend and morph with moisture which can retain it’s form. That being said, my initial inspiration for the this piece was a family tree. I originally intended for the “branches” or “trunks” to be more erect, and not curve over. However, I was able to make it work by bending them. Originally, I had a spiraling spike in the middle of the piece, just to be a filler for the large amount of empty space. Then, I realized that since it is sort of portraying a family tree, I could add a smaller tree in the middle to represent a sign of “birth,” as it can be perceived as a sapling of those two trees

In one of my studios, we were sorted into groups of three and collaborated with one another to form an art piece with limited materials. we were given a ball of yarn, fabric, and vellum paper. we stitched together a duffle bag, using yarn as shoulder straps, vellum as a fringe on the edges, and used a sharpie to create geometric patterns along the bag with fabric cutouts.

CINEMATOGRAPHY exploration

One of my Freshman Studios was Studio 4D, which consisted of the art of film and photography. Below are my two projects I personally worked on and collaborated with my classmates.

"PILLS," waS one of my final films I did for 4D. It focused on a boy who just moved to college, and feels free of his parents surveilance. Only thing holding him back is the pills he's been fed his whole life, which he doesn't know why. He dumps them, but soon realizes that his parents were trying to help him.

My 4D Pixelation assignment. Stop-motion film with three other classmates. Heavily inspired by Mario Kart.
